A comfortable 2 hour drive away from Surat Thani airport, Khao Sok national park is an often overlooked spot of beauty. As tourists are attracted to the beaches in the province Khao Sok is really quiet and and means you can escape the crowds.
Lush virgin rain forest and and a large variety of animals are can be found. The peace and tranquility seem like a mile away from the bustle of Bangkok and even the craziness of Phuket and Koh Samui. Being here you are in the simplest form of nature.

For around 2,000 Baht per person you get 1 night on the lake with all transfers, tours and food included. You can dive from the front of your room straight into the warm water. It is an experience like no other.
You will even get to go out on a night boat safari to spot nocternal animals which come out to drink at the lake overnight.

Khao Sok National Park may not have the variety of animals found at Khao Yai National Park but there are still many to be seen. The major benefit is the relaxed atmosphere and reduced number of tourists. Head here for 2 or 3 days and recharge your batteries before heading to other locations. 4 days in Phuket and 3 days here would be perfect.
