Welcome to my monthly spend report. A few more changes to the format this month but it still has all the same information as before.

Income – 69,000 baht

Spending – 68,500 baht

Costs

Accommodation: My 81sq meter condo is 17,000 baht per month.

Bills: 6,500 baht between water, electric, phone, internet, Netflix and Spotify

Transport: 1,500 baht for a mix of buses and taxis.

Food: 10,000 baht on a mix of restaurants, supermarkets and food delivery.

Investments: 17,500 baht this month between the provident fund at my office, an LTF and purchasing cryptocurrency. This is probably the most I’ve invested in a single month (usually I put away 10,000 baht).

General Shopping: 6,000 baht on a few electronics and some clothes which were on sale.

Others: 16,000 baht for installment payments on furniture / electronic goods and for a maid to come round once a week to iron / clean for five hours.

Unexpected Expenses

My printer broke down this month so I had to get a few spare parts, find someone to fix it and also stock up on ink. In total that was around 3,000 baht.

Rent Expense

17,000 baht per month is probably about the average rent price I’ve paid during my time in Thailand. My most expensive condo was 30k per month, the cheapest was 3,300 baht.

My current rent is roughly 25% of my income so it’s a level I’m happy with. As I live with my girlfriend, the 81sq meters we have gives us a good living environment. I could find a smaller place but it would affect my quality of life so I’ll stick with what I have.

Could I have saved more this month?

I could have invested less, especially in crypto, this month. However I thought it was the right time to put some cash in so was happy to do so.

I went out a few times to eat and drink and I guess I could have skipped those but then that wouldn’t have been fun.

What do you invest in?

I have an LTF investment and a provident fund from my work. My company matches up to 9,000 baht per month.

I also put a few baht into other investments such as crypto currency.

The Bills Are High

Since moving to a new condo my electric bill has doubled. I never used to spend more than 1,750 a month but now I’m between 2,750 and 3,500. The bigger room and older AC units explain that. I didn’t really think of that until I moved but I think I’ll struggle to keep that bill much lower.

You Have a Maid…

I pay around 3,000 baht a month for a maid to come round every week for a few hours to clean, wash and iron. It’s worthwhile for me as it gives me more free time and I hate doing those small chores.

What’s happening in June?

A lot of work. I’m on a training course which is using a fair amount of my free time right now. I’ve also got a few projects going on at work to look at during June so I’ll spend a little more time in the office than I normally would.

June Savings Goal

I’m going back to the UK in July and could do with 5,000 baht of savings come the end of June to help with that.

  1. Food 10.000? Are you sure? That’s 330 a day. And you wrote you go to restaurants and use delivery service. How is that possible? Or you eat once a day? Or you eat only rice?

    • I don’t eat out everyday. I can get food or cook my own for under 80 baht a meal. I mix things up. One or two big meals out then smaller stuff delivered or cooked.
